Key Features of the Technology
This invention relates to a manufacturing technology for cellulose particles and cellulose particle dispersions that exhibit reduced particle-to-particle agglomeration, low weight, and excellent dispersibility in oil-based liquids. Granules produced using the freeze granulation method are spherical in shape, possess excellent flowability, and can maintain low density and high homogeneity. The particle size can be controlled within a range of approximately 10 to 500μm, and the resulting granules can achieve tap densities comparable to or even higher than those obtained through spray drying methods. Unlike conventional high-temperature drying processes, the freeze granulation method eliminates thermal damage to raw materials while minimizing oxidation. Through joint research with Daio Paper Corporation, we have demonstrated that the freeze granulation method enables the production of cellulose particles and cellulose particle dispersions that are lightweight, resistant to agglomeration, and highly dispersible in oil-based liquids.
